BIOGRAPHY

Ningshi Yao

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, affiliated with Bio-engineering Department, at George Mason University. I received my PhD degree from School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, in 2020. Before joining Georgia Tech, I received my Bachelor of Engineering Degree and minor degree in Advanced Class of Engineering Education (ACEE), Chu Kochen Honors College, from Zhejiang University in 2014.

In my research, I develop a novel contention-resolving model predictive control method to co-design scheduling and control for resource constrained systems, such as networked control systems, traffic intersection management and human robot collaborative systems. My research interests span real-time scheduling, control theory, machine learning, bio-inspired robotics, and human robot interaction.

I am looking for motivated Ph.D. students interested in control and human robot interaction research in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023. If you are interested, please feel free to email me at nyao4 at gmu dot edu.
